Quote of the Day

I have personalized my Google home page to have on it comics, a game, quotes, news, weather, daily horoscope, how to's, and of course my new favorite thing, the Google eyes. It's just a pair of eyes that follow your cursor wherever it moves to on the browser. Not very difficult programming, I know, but still very cool. Sometimes I find myself just moving the cursor in circles and following the eyes. But if you haven't tried personalized Google, definitely try it. There's a ton of content to choose from, and some things are very useful like to do lists or Google mail. I'm waiting for them to do their Google calendar screen shot on the home page. But anyway....this was one of my quotes for today. I found it very encouraging, and realized I may yet be destined for great things ;)

My weekend...

Indian Aunty I barely know: Wow Pinky...you've really put on weight.
Me: Yeah, I know it's just been so busy lately, I haven't had time to get to the gym
Indian Aunty I barely know: No but I mean you've put on a lot of weight
Me: Yeah I guess I have...
Indian Aunty I barely know: Because you should really watch what you eat
Me: Umm...ok...
Indian Aunty I barely know: I mean you don't want to be older and overweight, it'll just become harder to lose
Me: I guess you're right...[trying to change the subject]...so how are your daughters doing in school?
Indian Aunty I barely know: Because you know no one told me when I put on a lot of weight...
Me: Really? Because everyone tells me....and I actually am aware of it
Indian Aunty I barely know: How many pounds have you gained?
Third-party observer: Will you please get off her case?
Indian Aunty I barely know (to 3rd party observer)
: Why don't you mind your own business?
RIGHT....

Later in the weekend:

Me: Hi Aunty!! How are you?
Indian Aunty I barely know #2: Oh hi! I barely recognized you.
Me: Yeah, I guess I do look different.
Indian Aunty I barely know #2: Yes you do. Are you expecting?

Time for Orals

It's time to start studying for orals. I am now officialy staying at home and devoting all of my time to studying, although I feel more like the comic above today. I hope the VPN to USC doesn't act up so I can browse academic journals without a problem. I also hope I can be disciplined enough to do this. Already, I'm blogging when I'm supposed to be reading...but it's ok because I'm making my dal.

We had a great time this weekend at my cousin's engagement. We saw most of the family and I'm getting very excited about the trip to Florida in July. I definitely need to have exams done by the end of June so that I can relax on the trip.

I often contemplate about what focus I want this blog to take. I have a really good idea for it, but lack the inspiration to get it started. Until then, it will be what it is, my general updates.
